To me, being part of a community means doing what I can to make it better. As your Representative, it is my priority to support our fishing industries, strengthen families, improve access to health care, provide quality education, promote economic growth and protect our natural resources.
As a social worker/clinical counselor specializing in work with children and families, I know first hand the struggle Mainers face to get ahead. We must do more to remove barriers that hold people back from achieving their goals.
As your Representative in the Maine Legislature, it is my responsibility to sponsor and vote on important legislation. It is also my responsibility to provide the best possible constituent service. That means being available and active in addressing concerns of constituents. I am proud of the legislation I have sponsored and supported and just as proud of my responsiveness and persistence in answering questions and getting solutions for constituents. I take the title “Representative” extremely seriously and work diligently to provide the best service and achieve the best results to fulfill both responsibilities.
As a legislator, I have successfully sponsored legislation to:
It is truly an honor to serve and I am grateful to have been elected as your Representative and am eager to continue to represent you, to work for you and with you. Together, we can get it done!
College debt is crushing. The legislature has worked to help ease the burden and I was able to successfully pass legislation to help by making sure that all possible tax credits were available and considered.
Working with a constituent whose son was severely injured in a school bus accident, a bill I introduced to improve school bus safety was unanimously approved and is now law.
Working with Maine’s Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Marine Resources, I have worked to restore critical eelgrass mapping in the state.
Protecting our environment is key to supporting and preserving our critical marine economy.
Improving the health of Maine people, improving access to all aspects of health care, reducing stigma associated with mental health and substance use disorders has been a focus of much of my work.
As House Chair of the Opioid Task Force, I worked with a committee comprised of other legislators, community experts in substance use disorders, the judicial and law enforcement systems, representatives of State Agencies and health care experts to take decisive action to address the epidemic taking so many lives and effecting so many individuals and families in Maine. Together, we were successful in addressing everything prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Mainers are resilient but our economy is going to need a boost after the coronavirus' effects in our state. I will make this a major priority of my term in the State House.
Mainers are worried about the economy. Small businesses were hit hard this year, and we need to make every effort to help Maine's small business based economy thrive.
